Who's Moving Into Logan Square Around the New Plaza

A finished plaza is one signal that a neighborhood is investing in itself. New businesses willing to open near it are another. Logan Square has had both this year, with a wave of openings on and around Milwaukee Avenue since the traffic circle redesign wrapped up, plus one we're especially glad to be part of.

New Flavors on Milwaukee Avenue

Mate Cafe and Chengdu Impression both opened on Milwaukee Avenue in late August 2026, with Chengdu Impression taking a spot at 2770 N Milwaukee. Rasa, an Indian restaurant, opened on Milwaukee Avenue earlier in the year. Between those openings and others nearby, roughly half a dozen new restaurants and shops have put down roots within a short walk of the monument in 2026 alone.

Trader Joe's Is Coming

Trader Joe's confirmed plans to open a new store in Logan Square at the former CVS location, with more than 130 parking spaces attached. It's one of the larger retail commitments the neighborhood has seen in years, and it points to the same thing the restaurant openings do: operators see real, durable foot traffic here now.

La Placita's Ripple Effect

Block Club Chicago reported in July that the new La Placita plaza has become a genuine boon for nearby business owners, with the farmers market crowds and festival foot traffic translating into more people walking past storefronts that used to sit behind a confusing, car-dominated intersection. It's the kind of shift that's easy to feel walking down Milwaukee Avenue on a Sunday and hard to overstate for the businesses that stuck it out through years of construction.

CCG's Own Storefront, Steps From the Plaza

We opened our own storefront this year at 2644 N Milwaukee Ave, right next to the Logan Theatre and a short walk from the monument. Our original office at 1643 N Milwaukee in Bucktown is still open and fully staffed, and the new space isn't meant to replace it. It's meant to be something different: a community living room, not a traditional brokerage office, with free programming open to neighborhood organizations.

We're celebrating the storefront's ribbon cutting this September, and we've already lined up partners who reflect what we love about this neighborhood. One Tail at a Time pulls dogs out of Chicago and downstate shelters and places them through foster-based rescue instead of letting them sit on euthanasia lists. Friends of the Bloomingdale Trail stewards and programs the elevated trail that runs along the neighborhood's northern edge. Both will be part of our programming at the new space, alongside MSA Circus Arts and Chicago French Bulldog Rescue.

We're a Compass-affiliated team, but this storefront was built around the neighborhood first. If you're part of a local organization looking for free space to meet, host, or program something, we'd love to hear from you.

Curious What This Means for Your Logan Square Home?

Neighborhood investment like this tends to show up in property values before it shows up in the data. If you're thinking about buying or selling near the new plaza, we'd be glad to talk through it.
