Logan Square's Plaza Has Its Events Calendar Back

For most of the last decade, the ground around the Illinois Centennial Monument was a construction zone more often than it was a gathering place. That changed this year. With the traffic circle redesign complete, the plaza is doing what it was built to do: hosting the events that give Logan Square its rhythm.

The Arts Fest Is Back, and Bigger

The Logan Square Arts Fest skipped 2025 entirely because of construction around the square. It returned June 26 through 28, 2026, with a lineup headlined by Porches, Bad Bad Hats, and Catie Turner, spread across two music stages. Organizers used the extra room from the finished plaza to roughly double the festival's vendor footprint compared to past years, giving local artists and makers more space to set up alongside the music.

It's a strong sign of what the new layout is meant to enable: a festival that used to compete for space with traffic now has room to spread out and grow.

Sundays Still Belong to the Farmers Market

The Logan Square Farmers Market found its permanent home in the redesigned plaza this spring, after years of operating a few blocks away. It runs Sundays from May through October, with 103 rotating vendors, including 44 weekly farmers, and draws 12,000 to 15,000 visitors on a typical Sunday. It has been named Chicago's best farmers market for seven consecutive years, and shoppers and vendors have been enthusiastic about the new setup since the move.

What's Next for the Plaza

CDOT has said a shade gazebo for the plaza and a canopy for the Logan Square Blue Line station are both still planned, though neither has a confirmed timeline yet. For now, between weekly market Sundays and a full return of the Arts Fest, the square has more going on than it has in years.
